...and I wanna be a "cool" mom...so, I'm heading to the thrift store to get my "fashion DIY" on.

I'll be looking for a pair of mens jeans...preferably a pair with big pockets on the back...that I can cut, shape and sew into the perfect pair of "drop crotch" jeans...like these...stay tuned.

Okay.

I have another easy, peasie DIY.

One thrifted (yours could be new) maxi skirt.

1.  Turn the skirt inside out

2. Spread it out on the floor 

3. Draw a horizontal line across the bottom of the skirt and two vertical lines...just as I have done here

4. The right and left vertical lines represent where your legs will go

5. The horizontal line represents the drop in the pants

You can make the drop higher or lower.  

It all depends on how low you want your hammer pants to hang.

They can hang at the knee, ankle or anywhere in between.

6.  Next, stitch along the white line...hand sewing is fine with this project.  

I would just suggest you go over your seam twice.

7. Next, (I don't have a photo of this step, sorry) go ahead and cut away all the excess fabric below the chalk line.
