Hi guys, as you know I worked on my bedroom all weekend...Sigh. I did so much cleaning, organizing, dusting that my allergies are going crazy...Can't believe I was living in a dust bowl...I'm on the 11th floor...where does the dust come from? UGH...anyway...
I woke up early saturday and was one of the first people in the fabric store...I have lots of projects running around my head...and I couldn't wait to get started...like, cushion covers for the throw pillows on my bed...I'm going for a global glam feel...this is a sample of what I bought...the room needs major gold accents...anything brass, glass or shinny...and I'm in love with this color blue...go figure.
As for the thrifty find of the month...tada!
I searched and searched all over the internet for the perfect (priced) arm chair...nothing...I hit up HomeGoods, Marshalls and TJMaxx...nothing. Sigh. Why do I even try?
...On the way home from Marshalls, I stopped in the Salvation Army...and what did I find?
This chair...It was early in the morning and the donation truck was unloading in the parking lot...that's always a good sign...I was anxious to see what was coming in...and low and behold this little chair came off the truck. Smile. I made a beeline to the manager and asked her to price it right away...not something they normally do...but, they know me...so she priced it...wait for it....$32.00! Boom.
Many of you may know it from the IKEA 2011, 2012 catalog.
It's the Lillberg chair...it's adjustable...and it rocks...really, it rocks.
This is why I thrift...I was going to spend $200 bucks on a new pretty chair...but, the universe had other plans. I can't wait to cover those cushions...smile.
Oh yeah...this is one of the tables I scored while thrifting last week. I will sell them in my Etsy shop when I'm done working on this room.
Here's a sneak peek of how the room is coming together...no easy feat.
More information on the details when I'm done...probably another week. Stay tuned.
Just when you think you need more space...what you really need is inspiration for living well in your small rental space...be inspired.
Don't miss her terrace...sigh. I guess design minds think alike...it's exactly like mine! I will be adding a bench like hers to my terrace...and her kitchen floor...clever...and the mirror in the kitchen...in the exact place where I placed mine...hum? We really do think alike...You can check out her Youtube channel this weekend...where she shares step by step details on how she did it all...

I'm hitting up a couple street fairs this weekend, a girl needs a little fresh air and funnel cake...looking for an arm chair for my bedroom, eating cupcakes and finishing up my room...stay tuned.
Hey there, today's post is all about how I'd like to live today...
...for starters, It's time to let my natural hair breath...take down this weave and go back to doing twist outs...fall is the perfect twist out season...no shrinkage.
...and if I didn't flop around in flip flops all year...I would love to strut around in similar red heels...
...sigh. What's not to love...If I could, I would so splurge and replace my terrace slider doors with something like this...black, high gloss, french doors.
I need this mirror in my bedroom...Maybe I'll get this one from IKEA for Christmas.
I love the faux fireplace...I'm still not sure what to do with my fireplace mantel...sigh.
Love, love, love....I can see my terrace ceiling draped in weather proof fabric...
Seriously? Yes! Sigh. Headboard.
Guess who went to the thrift store yesterday? Just wanted to drop off some stuff...yeah right. Found a coat similar to the one pictured here (same shape and fabric, different color)...$6.00.
I also picked up two amazing mid century modern stools...Yes...A come up...I can't tell you what I paid...but, you can see what their worth...just click here.
I'll sell them on ETSY if you are interested in purchasing...
Stick around for photos and a post...or maybe a video...I've only made one video this whole year...I need to do more...sigh. I'm not the best editor...maybe I'll post a gig on craiglist for a video editor...any ideas or video editors out there?
Stay with me as I get it together...
Hi there...sigh.
I'm coming up for air.
My chaos is coming together...and I thought I should look for a little inspiration before having a "design breakdown".
...My bedroom, unfortunately is like an old relationship where you're constantly asking, "where is this going?" The answer is usually, nowhere...unless you have a vision and a little inspiration...a light at the end of the tunnel if you will...
Okay, let's go towards the light...the design light that is...
I love everything about this room...I already own the Ikea light above the bed, check. I also own a couple of sheep skins, check. I could paint my dresser a funky color...not going to...but, I could. I could also place it in front of the window like this...and I love, love, love the black and white rug...
...I could do something like this with all the round wicker baskets I've accumulated...and lord knows I have enough textiles to make a similar pillow display on my bed...Hum?
This room is more modern...but, I love the color combinations, blue, orange, red, white, black.
I pulled this image because I like the way the art is arranged. I'm looking for a way to display all the art I've collected...instead of storing it under my bed...
Sigh. Red...and blue. What's not to love...and I think I thrifted a very similar blanket...I love the way the art is displayed...fit for a Queen...very royal.
Oh well, I still have lots more to do...better get to it...stay tuned.
Hi...my name is soul pretty and I have design ADD and hoarder tendencies...there...I said it...lol.
No, for real. Just look at this nonsense...and most of it came from MY room...which is my current project...and I may have just landed another gig...that I really need to focus on and put together an amazing proposal. But, how can I focus on that when my home looks like this. If you have been around the blog for a while...you know I can't FOCUS when things are out of order...sigh.
And in the mist of this...I decided to paint my room AGAIN. I actually purchased the paint this time...no oops...though I tried...but none of the opps colors spoke to me,,,so I decided on this beautiful color by Gliden...it's Caribbean ocean blue...what a cool name. Can I tell you, I love it...every time I walk in my room I just smile...I can't believe I lived so long in this space with such drab colors...sigh.
Well, painting the wall lead to this...my cleaning out the two closets in my room that I was using for storage...UGH!
I found over 12 lamps....UGH!
...pillows
...sheets blankets and throws...UGH!
...and shoes! Remember what I said about not being a shoe whore? Yeah, lied.
...everything must go...this stuff is making me nervous...I live a simple life...with hoarder tendencies..sigh. Guess ill be here for a while.
...yes. I do. sigh.
This friday finds me claiming my truth and clearing my clutter. It's my bedroom you see...it's over run with non-sense...remember when I said, "I'm not a shoe whore?"yeah right...more on that next week...
For now...let's just look at a couple of inspirational, small bedrooms...tiny, bedrooms...
I have what could be considered a sizable bedroom for NYC...and still I can't seem to figure out how to live graciously in it...
and obviously these people have...
this is one of my favorite...this room is devoid of any built in character...yet, character was created with a paint treatment...
...okay, I can't...is this a boat?
I heart everything about this space...the black wall and white bedding are perfection...as well as the one long shelf which houses all the rooms necessities...
now, this room is a little larger...but, not by much...the doors instead of windows add much needed light...and I'm a sucka for covered end tables...
...perfect for the student in your life...how did they get the desk in this room...genius.
again...color makes all the difference...
I've posted this room before...love it...love it so much I actually copied something from it for my room...more on that next week.
and last but not least...create the illusion of windows and soften up the space by placing curtains on the wall behind your bed...just a little weird that they didn't put the same drapes on the window...but, they do have a blind up. I guess hanging drapes would be in the way.
Okay...enough procrastination...I'm off to tackle the rest of my mess...Have a great weekend...and thanks for reading...Soul Pretty.
I had the pleasure of working with this wonderful family as they gathered to celebrate the 1st birthday of their son. This is my clients second son...but, no expense was spared on this party.
Here are a couple of photos of my work and the celebration...they partied HARD!
You would have thought Tupac and Biggie was blaring off those speakers...lol.
I took Mini and we really enjoyed ourselves...and I got the chance to practice my photography skills...Amazeballs.
grandpa, grandma, mommy, daddy, auntie and the birthday boy
Mom, Dad, birthday boy and brother...
...another one of my old clients and her mom...great catching up with her...I decorated her new home 9 years ago and she told me everything is exactly where I put it...lol. Sigh. I told her I'm about to change up my place again...and it's only been about 4 months since the last change...
She's a lawyer and her husbands a doctor and they have 3 kids...I wouldn't move anything either...You know I told her to give me a call if she wants to freshen things up...
Okay...so there was fabric, beading, weave, maxi dresses, bracelets, jewelry, harem pants and capes everywhere...I was in boho heaven...I wanted every single outfit I saw...this gown belongs to the birthday mommy.
...My OFTD
Look at Mini in the cha-cha line...turned up.
Please, please, please play one more song...Mr. Dj.
Birthday Mom...look at that jewelry...real. Sigh.
A great job...a great day...I love what I do.
