A day in the clinic...
Today was clinic day...Mini is still getting caught up on her immunization. After going through chemo and bone marrow transplantation you loose all your original immunizations....you practically become an infant again...being around kids is without immunization is very dangerous...Mini worked with 3 and 4 year olds this summer...and we totally forgot about her shots...she did get pink eye and ran a fever for 2 days...UGH!
...We learned today that Mini is now ready to move onto the, "survivors clinic".
That's where you see a doctor who explains what life post transplant will be like...
They also follow-up with their transplant patients into adulthood...just to make sure everything is fine. Apparently they are experts at what can and can't go wrong after receiving chemo and bone marrow. Sigh.
This is Mini's hospital. It just got a new wing. When Mini was a little girl going to the Sickle Cell Clinic it was just a dream. The staff would sit around and talk about how great it would be if they had a new building, more beds, more equipment...and now it's here...open for business. If you have a child in NYC with a chronic illness...check out Mini's hospital. They are doing big things here...
Mini wanted me to show you guys how she gets through all the needles...
first, Jesus...she's wearing her cross bracelet
second, coffee...
