love the outfit...I would love copy the black and green pattern from the skateboard onto a closet door...
...the colors in the room are perfect...I wish I could pull my bedroom color together like this...
...Karen always uses just the right mix of romance and rocker...
check out her new blog .
Yep...color, pattern, texture...good stuff.
I'm inspired by mom's trying to do it all and still keep it fashionable...
Check out how supermodel-mom, Veronica Web rocks her scarfs and more...here.
...Romance is always needed in your bedroom decor....sigh.
Cozbi a beautiful store here in Brooklyn, New York
...print and hang in bedroom?
...color inspiration
...idea for my bedroom fireplace mantel...could help keep my clothes off the wall and floors.
...Yep. First let me say, I was home alone watching this on the news this past sunday morning...emotions just took over me...and I let it go...and it felt good.
There are so many amazingly selfish people in this world...and Mini and I have been touched by so many...I am moved to do something...I don't know what...sigh. But, I must do something to give back to a community of people, doctors, lawyers, schools, families that have done so much for Mini and I...
Mini has attended the Hole in the Wall Camp for 9 years! She was just 7 years old the first time my mom and I watched her step on that camp bus with the maturity and wonder of someone twice her age. My mom and I were scared. Mini had just had a stroke, she was getting a blood transfusion every 3 weeks...she was being hooked up to a medical drip every single night...How can we be sending this girl off to camp? As Mini took her window seat on that bus...and looked at me and gave me the biggest smile...and waved bye...I knew I was doing the right thing...she wasn't scared...I was scared...I did not want to put my fear on her...Her eyes said, Mommy, I'm fine, I want to see everything this world has to offer...I can do this...and she did.
Mini has attended camp every single year since...just like the video mentions, NOTHING was going to stop Mini from going to camp...NOTHING. The only time I every saw my Mini break down, was the one year they told her she could not attend...too many kids. What!?!??! I gave Mini the news thinking she would take it the way she takes everything else...(stroke, special ed, brain surgeries, death...etc.) on the chin...Man, was I surprised...Mini fell to the floor in full dramatic fashion, crying. I had never seen her respond to any disappointment like that...I thought to myself, man, what the hell are they doing at that camp? I got on the phone...spoke to a couple of people, explained the situation and Mini went off to camp that year too. Sigh.
When Mini and I had our first consultation about Sickle Cell and being cured with a bone marrow transplant, one of her first questions to Dr. B was, "will I still be able to go to camp if I don't have sickle cell?" He said, he wasn't sure...she said, "Oh well, no camp, no bone marrow transplant...I'll keep Sickle Cell." SIGH! What the hell are they doing at that camp?!?!?!?
Sigh, I said all of that to say, I hope our story moves you in some way to help in anyway you can to keep this camp going. If you can't donate money, donate time or things...or just purchase the Paul Newman brand food products in your supermarket. I'm telling you first hand this is a charity that is doing amazing work...changing lives...giving kids something to live for...Mini attended this camp for 9 years and we have never paid one dime...not one.
Mini was given the "Michelle Obama" award at camp this year...for being a leader and not a follower and working so well with the little kids who came to camp for the first time, just like Mini did 9 years ago...Mini is looking forward to being a Leader in Training next year...and a counselor every year there after...lol. I'm looking forward to her spreading hope and healing...showing kids that if you stay positive you too can live a better life.
Please forgive me for going on and on...I know this is a decor lifestyle blog, but this was on my heart this morning to share this with you all...I will now watch the video and cry again...smile.
Go here to see how you can make a difference.
...love the cool wall color mixed with bright patterns...the stools at the end of the bed are cool...and I own so many of those already, white lamps, yep...got those too...I could totally pull off this look in my bedroom...only this missing is that beautiful high, private window...
...more stools at the end of the bed...I got that...clear glass lamps, yep, got that too...ethnic, natural pillows...check.
...okay, this is where it could all go wrong and I could get stuck with the paint color I'm already living with...bedroom wall color, check...got that...hats hanging on wall, check, got that...painted black sidetable...I'm one coat of paint away from that...hanging lights on each side of the bed, check...I got that...punch of texture and hot pink...hum? If I have all of this already, why doesn't my room look or feel like this? Sigh...pretty...maybe too pretty for my taste.
Sigh...okay, the wall color is cool enough to appeal to me...I would never hang a shelf over my bed...bad idea. The simplicity of this room kinda reminds me of an "upscale" jail cell...you know the kind you go to after stealing 20 billion dollars from old people...
...we have all seen this room...can I just say, I need an acrylic side table...and a beautiful chair...and a window flooding my room with light...
...I have always been a fan of the canopy bed...sigh. It's one of the first things I purchased after moving into my first "real" apartment...the X benches at the end of the bed...love...I see them every time I visit HomeGoods...and we all know I own enough benches to pull this off.
Okay...let the design church say, "Amen". This wall color is very similar to the opps paint I purchased over the weekend...it's grey with a hint of purple...smile. I want to treat my windows in just the same fashion...the mirror, check, I have one very similar...sigh. Could I possibly pull this off? I've gotta get a couple of shinny white pieces...and monogramed pillow cases from Overstock.com .
...I now bring you back to my regularly scheduled idea...yeah, I love to think that I could live in a pretty, simple room like the one pictured above this room...in theory, I could...but, in reality...this is more my style...I would get bored in the other room...kinda looks like anyone could live this...just not personal enough for me. I love stuff, pattern color, texture...pile it on.
Yes, Yes, Yes...again, bench at the end of the bed...punches of color...lamps on wall...hidden windows...doable, doable, doable...don't even get me started on thinking about painting my floors...I'll do it...you know, I'll do it...and this is just beautiful enough for a trip to HomeDepot.
...more color...and ohhh, look at the painted red side table...the fabric upholstered headboard...yes.
and last but not least...the room that almost has it all...dark walls, canopy...pattern on top of pattern, vintage side tables...sigh.
I know, I'm all over the place when it comes to ideas for my bedroom...but, there is a method to my madness...stay tuned.
...sigh. my bedroom is a dumping ground again...why? it drives me crazy...don't be fooled by the sunlight flooding the window...this room is in the back of the apartment...has just one window and faces south with another building blocking it's view...ugh! I rarely open the curtains...no privacy.
...the fireplace mantel really needs a more appropriate home...
...it's shoved into the corner, you can't even see it...
it never fails, when working on one room in my house...all the extra fall out ends up here...
...see that cute little daisy painting? I thrifted it for just $3.00...my mom's name was Daisy and just looking at it makes me smile...
lol...I told you, no shame...it's not always perfect here at Soul Pretty...don't get me wrong...the rest of my home is "almost" perfect...this is just the land of misfits...lol.
...two closets and still, no room for my clothes...just look at all the stuff hanging from the walls...lol.
...two closets and still, no room for my clothes...just look at all the stuff hanging from the walls...lol.
...another one of my latest thrift finds...L.O.V.E.
I picked up some more oops paint over the weekend...I will be repainting my bedroom this week...If you can't beat them, join them...the room is already moody, so I'm going back to the dark chocolate wall...the baby blue color on the walls now have no personality...definitely doesn't look like "my" room...if you know what I mean.

I still don't have a dresser. I can't wait to find one and paint it...just like the one pictured above... sigh. and I have no idea where all the extra furniture is going...I'm seriously leaning toward's an October apartment sale...
Mini's bedroom...nice.
my bedroom once upon a time...where are those red and white pillows?
Found while thrifting the other day, just $3.99...it's official...we are finally on trend...lol.
It's a Ganson bag...did a little online research...could be collectable. I was wondering why a women in the thrift store was so interested in it when she saw it in our cart...she even came over took it out the the cart and inspected it....lol...I heart thrifting. I thought she thought it was an actual Chanel Bag...lol.
Here are a couple of Mini and my favorite fashionistas rocking their version of the Classic Chanel Bag.
Happy thrifting ladies.
