I'm just back from IKEA where I purchased and then returned all the items I had just bought...UGH! I still need to paint the items shown here...
...the mirror will be a high gloss white
I purchased this hollow core door from Home Depot to use as a desk...I'll paint it white.
Mini's dresser will probably be painted white too...I'm losing inspiration quickly.
These colors are distracting me from my design ideas...I do love blue and orange...but I really want something simpler for Mini's room...By the way, I've been at it for two days and it looks like a bomb went off in there...It's gonna get worse before it gets better...that's the law of design...I'm taking a break tomorrow...I should be done before Saturday when Mini returns home from camp...
...I had to share this photo from Mini's B-Day (even though it's out of focus)...she and a couple of her friends from school went to the movies then had dinner and cake at her dad's restaurant...I snapped this picture, the kids were so happy, innocent and joyful...something you don't see often in teenagers these days...That's my Mini with the black dress and big smile on the left...What a great day.
Found here
I'm loving the black bed and the white side tables for Mini's room...but I definitely don't want the room to read black and white...hum.
I heart everything about this room...it has a similar feeling to Mini's room. I still need to find drapery fabric on Monday...I'm thinking pattern...
Words can not describe how much I like this dresser...Mini's old dresser needs to be painted...Hum.
Alright, I'm off...Enjoy your weekend.

O.k...I know you all are tired of my yapping about the Salvation Army...but, look what I found yesterday for Mini's room...two beautiful side tables for just..............$4.99 each...Come on...how can I not talk about this place...? I love it! I've posted the receipt...because I know it's hard to believe...Hum, what color will I paint them?
...this was a weird week...all my girlfriends seem to be on the same page...in need of a little R&R...this is my wish for you...Florida, Texas, Atlanta, Ohio & Brooklyn...
Mini's b-day is this weekend...14! So of course I'm running around like a one legged women in an ass kicking contest...lol, thanks for that one Ron.
I'm making cupcakes for her to take to school tomorrow, a cake for her actual b-day...I gotta get back to the Army and find end tables for her room...I ordered some things online from Walmart...gotta get to the store and pick them up...Mini's leaving for camp on Sunday, gotta do laundry and get her all packed...oh yeah, I can't forget about her hair...gotta do that too...and her doctor was trying to schedule an MRI into this crazy week...not happening.
All in a days work for a single mom.
Whew! cue music...
...I've been talking about doing a silhouette of Mini for years...never got around to it...I met a graphic designer at Saturday's picnic in Harlem and his work inspired me to go home and just do it...Well, after getting Mini to sit for me...she decided she wanted to paint it...smile (that's why I call her Mini) anywho...this is her masterpiece...
I agree, 100%.
...this was drilled into me as a student in High School...The High School of Fashion Industries, NYC...If you know a teenager interested in fashion, this is the school for them...It has been ranked one of the best schools in the nation and it's a free public school...check out their website for details on admissions and to watch their annual student fashion show...
I'm not saying you need a picture of Tyra on your bathroom wall...but, how hot is this idea? I love it...so unexpected...gives a traditional track bathroom tons of character...I think I know someone who could do something like this for me...or maybe Mini's room...Hum, now I'm getting carried away...
...loving everything, everything about this room. Especially the lighting hanging over the coffee table...I have no over head lighting in my apartment and I really need something like this to bring light into the middle of my living room...Can we talk about the coffee table? You see people, this is why I can not purchase expensive furniture for my home...I see this table and it makes me want to throw away the table I just showed you two posts ago...UGH! ....and how easy would it be to make this table...a couple of boulders from the home depot garden center and a round piece of stained wood....sigh...I'll just keep the image here until I can't stand it an longer... Good thing for me I got way too much going on right now.
Martha Redbone, just back from South Africa, performed a free concert in Harlem...
...uninvited guest "crazy lady" to our impromptu picnic...to be expected when you have free food out in the open in NYC...
I just had to capture this picture of mommy and sleeping baby...Oh, I forgot to email it to her...
...Martha getting down after having trouble with her keyboard...the show must go on...
Just hanging...having fun...meeting new creative people...
...Oh, Rex made an amazing sangria...everyone had a cup...
...and then someone gave the crazy lady a cup of Sangria and she entertained us for over 40 minutes...she said she's Michael Jackson's wife...and she's going to bring him back to life...We were all daring these two to kiss...
Rex in the green t-shirt...put this all together in 2 hours...just a trip to Pathmark and a card table later and we were having a good time in the park...Now, that's my kinda picnic...no planning, just meet up and chill out. It was stress free...
The next day Martha and I went to the Long Beach Craft festival...I love craft shows...Martha purchased this hammock for her yard...Now if she would just host a backyard party...I'm working on her...
...I finally covered my boring sofa...It can officially date my $20 IKEA coffee table, and my $4.00 antler candle sticks as well as my $5.00 crochet throw that I purchased at Brimfield...I got the round silver tray on the coffee table from IKEA for $4.00...that's the mid-century rocking chair I purchased for myself for my b-day back in February for $100.00...the photo is of Mini on her 3rd birthday...smile.
