What are you doing New Years Eve? Got a vision ...make it happen.

So...tomorrow is New Years Eve!  I don't know about you guys, but I love New Years Eve.  I can remember running the streets of NYC with my friends as a teenager...getting into all the craziness...I also remember all the New Years Eve dates I've been on some good...some not so good...One of my favorite New Years was spent with my girlfriend and her family...she had just installed a hot tub in backyard in New Jersey...the house was full of friends, food and family and kids...and we spent the entire night running in and out of the cold winter air into the hot tub...sigh.  Good times.

I used to be of the understanding that you MUST bring in the New Year with your love or that love will end...ha, ha, ha...I was such a silly girl...

Ladies, no people...if you are listening...don't believe the hype...and please don't bring in the New Year with someone who has no desire to be with you completely...You will just drag that energy into the new year...and who needs that?

I have a better idea...why not spend New Years Eve dreaming and creating a life you can really love?  By making a dream/vision board...What's a vision board?

I've compiled some examples for you...

A dream board is when you compile images and words from magazines that describe or show things that you want in your life...for example, if you want LOVE...cut out images of loving couples...If you want MONEY...cut out images of wealth...etc....paste them onto a board or paper and hang it where you can see it everyday as a reminder of your dreams and desires.

You'll need a couple of magazines, scissors and glue...go out and get them today if you don't have them...

I love this example...I like how all the things she wants are coming from her mind...I think I'll make one like this...

Vision boards don't have to be a big deal...they can be as simple as this board...just hang things that make you happy or that you want more of in your life.

I came across this video while doing my research...It's wonderful and she really breaks down the power and mystery of vision boards...

If you don't have magazines...I know you have a pencil and paper...why not try this...

Vision boards can be very personal...I like to hang mine where I can see it everyday...but, not everyone else... If your board is seen by someone negative...they can talk you out of your desires...Don't expose your vision to haters!

I love this example...of how to hang a board...Look at it everyday and say "YES"...I will have that.

Why not gather all your friend over...make drinks and food...pump up the tunes and get to cutting...visions are powerful.

This would be a good idea for couples too...You and your partner sitting together...cutting and discussing what you want to see happen in your lives in 2014...How romantic!

Don't forget your kids...get them in the act to...what do they want in 2014?  Better grades, new Nikes, more freedom...Let them know the sky's the limit...

O.K...there you have it...the alternative to another New Years Eve that does nothing for your future.  I know what I'll be doing...See you next year!

2014...Let's go!

Do we still have time to decorate?

Well, my week has been crazy...  My Mini was in the hospital with a lung infection (she is now on the mend) missed the last week of school before the break...UGH!  One of my best friends suffered an aneurysm and emergency brain surgery (she is also on the mend)...sigh.  So what's a girl to do when her nerves are shot?  Make snowflakes of course.  Remember arts and crafts in grade school...yep...I'm taking you back...way back.  I started making them and I couldn't stop...they are so easy and inexpensive to make...This is a DIY that can be done tonight...with your kids...while watching a holiday movie...all you need are scissors and printer paper...that's it.

I'll be putting up a photo backdrop in my living room...I'm hosting the annual Christmas Eve gathering and I thought it would be fun to take pics in front of a snowflake backdrop...kinda like this little baby...

Look at all this goodness...
I cut so many...each one different.
I even used leftover wrapping paper...

Now, if you are feeling a bit more ambitious...try using gold dots...like these chicks...LOVE.  I'm just too lazy for all that...
But, so cute...I can't wait to take pics...stay tuned...

FYI...It's supposed to be 60 degrees in NYC this weekend...WTF!

Hey, just in case you forgot how to make them...here's a tut...

Christmas Came Early This Year...Thrift Haul

I had a strong urge to visit the thrift store yesterday...I didn't want to go...it was cold...and really...I have enough stuff to sell.  I gave into the urge and went anyway...so glad I did!  I hit the mother load!  ...and yes, Virginia...there is a Santa Claus...and he donates all the bad peoples presents to the thrift store...lol.

...No, these items came from good people...I can tell...only good people collect such things...and then take the time to donate them instead of throwing them out...and if you are about to throw out something someone else can use....don't!  Donate it...these stores make money from your donations and that money helps fund programs in your community...For my spirit it's a win, win...

Now, back to what I purchased yesterday...

3...three...three...killim pillows....vintage...sigh.  I won't get into how I was going to Ikea to see their new line of killim pillows...and by chance (nothing is really by chance) found these instead...I paid just $3.00 for each one...they usually run between $45.00 - $700.00...check here if you don't believe me...
My home is on it's way to being this stunning...sigh

Next, I found this vintage??? Not sure if it's vintage...it looks new...but, I lovvvvve it anyway...cutting board for just $1.45...sigh.  I heart the people pricing my items at the local thrift store...
I will use it for it's practical design of cutting...but, mostly I will use it as a photo styling tool for my Etsy shop...like this.

Next up...sigh.  Another macrame plant holder...sigh...$2.49.
Good thing for me my ceilings have steel beams running through them...making screwing very difficult...or else these things would be hanging everywhere...I love them...always have...even when I was a little girl...I would try to make them...never successful though...

if you would like to try and make your own (I may try again) ...that's the link.

I feel like this is my Christmas gift from the universe...only it knows the items I secretly lust over daily...and it delivered!   Just $12.00 was spent...Thank you!

Scenes from the Summer...

Just wanted to share a couple of photos from a trip Mini and I took into Soho over the summer...

We took a twirl around Pier1...where I feel in love with this dresser.

...made a stop at the Free People store...thousands and thousands of tissue paper flowers hung from the ceiling...I would love to do this in my bedroom...

I gave Mini a few gift ideas for Christmas.

We stopped by the Whole Foods store in Union Square for lunch...

...supermarket sushi and vegan cupcakes are my go to Whole Food lunch.

As we settle into this holiday season here are a couple of our next excursions into the Emerald City...weather permitting...

Union Square has a beautiful outdoor Christmas Market...here you will find all kinds of unusual handmade items...think ETSY come to life.

Ice Skating in Bryant Park...this is the only FREE ice skating rink in the city.  Well, free for those who bring their own skates...and you know Mini got skates for Christmas a couple years ago...You can also stay on the ice all day if you like...other rinks in the city offer skating in sessions only...when your session is over, you have to pay again to get back on the ice...smh.  Go here for all the details.  Bryant Park also hosts a Holiday Market.

I love a NYC Christmas

Winning..

Mini participated in a fencing tournament where she won her division and came in 3rd in the semi-finals.  Winning a bronze metal.  Mini has only been fencing for 3 semesters.  This young lady never gives less than 100%.  She is such an inspiration to watch.  I am so proud to be her mom.
