A work in progress...

Just wanted to take a moment to document my progress...sigh.
I also wanted to show you guys the process...how to take a room from wrong to right.
Just seeing the after pictures can be so misleading...I mean, sometimes i can get it done in a day...but, not this time.   I have spent days thinking about furniture placement...dreaming about color schemes...it's a process...and i am passionate about...especially since its for Mini.

So, before we get to next weeks reveal,,,take a look a where we are today...not too pretty.
I purchased metallic silver spray paint for the dresser...Mini's idea...didn't work out...gotta think of something else.

,,,this desk and end tables need a new home...

...her wardrobe needs a makeover too....begone little magazine cut outs...no place for that in this makeover....

...drapes.  We need drapes.

So as you can see there are a lot of design issues still up in the air...guess you know what I'll be doing this weekend...laboring for Labor Day.  I'll make sure to get out and get some sun...I hope you do the same....enjoy!

The choices are endless...

O.k...now that the room is painted...next up, what color should we use to accent the navy walls?

Orange and white...I love this combination.

Yellow and white seems to be the trend right now...hum.

I love the idea of accenting the room with grey, white and yellow.  Remember, I'm trying to do this make-over without spending any money...Well, I bought new sheets and pillow cases...I was going to buy new fabric for drapes...but, decided to re-use the drapes I already have...we'll see.

I also like this green and white color scheme...and I have a lot of green accessories that I could use if we go in this direction.

Stick around...If all works as planned this weekend you will see the big reveal next week.

Thanks for hanging with me and reading.

...Just getting started is the hardest part of the job.

 Operation Mini's Make-over has begun.
I stalked a couple of HomeDepot's for opps paint.  You guys know how much I love paying just $7.00 for a gallon of paint.  Just remember that all HomeDepots are not the same...some sell their opps paint, some don't.  Walmart has an opps paint dept...as well as Lowes...

I lucked out...my store had 4 gallons of white opps paint...Yes.  I bought two gallons...and headed home to begin a project I had no intention of starting...But the universe has a way of moving you in the right direction...

Yes.  This is my bedroom...UGH!  This room drives me crazy...but, you already know that.  How many make-overs have I done on this room?  Too many.  It never feels right.
So when I got the opportunity to purchase gallons of white paint for just $7.00...I jumped on it...and began painting my room white...sigh...smile.
I love painting so, that's not a problem...I just want it to feel right.  All I do is sleep in this room...when I wake up and leave this room in the morning...I don't return until it's time for bed...I gotta figure out why.  I'm sure it has something to do with the feng shui...sigh.  I'm not sure how to fix it...but, that doesn't stop me from trying...
You guys know I don't quit...lol.  I'll get it right someday.

I came across this easy to follow Feng Shui bedroom make-over video while lurking around last night...

Say bye-bye to momma's purple bedroom...

...say bye-bye to Mini's purple bedroom too.

One white wall done...and my room is already feeling a little better...well, kinda...It still has a long way to go...I have design ADD...

Mini's new wall color after a coat of paint...she did it all by herself...one more coat to go...
She even primed her dresser for it's new make-over...stay tuned!

You have to see this...small space living

Mini and I are in the middle of her bedroom make-over.  We spent all day yesterday painting...and de-cluttering...sigh.  Late last night while lurking around the internet for inspiration I came across this video.  Amazing.

Mini and I are taking a break from the make-over today.  Instead we are going out for a little visual stimulation...and inspiration.  You know what that means...into the Emerald City.

We are trying to make-over her room while spending as little money as possible.
So far I have spent $4.35...stay tuned.

A day in the clinic...

Today was clinic day...Mini is still getting caught up on her immunization.  After going through chemo and bone marrow transplantation you loose all your original immunizations....you practically become an infant again...being around kids is without immunization is very dangerous...Mini worked with 3 and 4 year olds this summer...and we totally forgot about her shots...she did get pink eye and ran a fever for 2 days...UGH!

...We learned today that Mini is now ready to move onto the, "survivors clinic".
That's where you see a doctor who explains what life post transplant will be like...
They also follow-up with their transplant patients into adulthood...just to make sure everything is fine.  Apparently they are experts at what can and can't go wrong after receiving chemo and bone marrow.  Sigh.

This is Mini's hospital.  It just got a new wing.  When Mini was a little girl going to the Sickle Cell Clinic it was just a dream.  The staff would sit around and talk about how great it would be if they had a new building, more beds, more equipment...and now it's here...open for business.  If you have a child in NYC with a chronic illness...check out Mini's hospital.  They are doing big things here...

Mini wanted me to show you guys how she gets through all the needles...
first, Jesus...she's wearing her cross bracelet
second, coffee...

How I'd Like to Live Today...

For some reason I'm attracted to the color orange...again.

Mini is looking for a denim shirt...

I had to take a pic of my dream car to put in my dream post...

...and while I'm dreaming...why not dream about a grown and sexy night with this guy...you never know...It could happen.

...chillin' on the terrace this weekend.

...my Etsy store is busy...love it.
I'll be adding new stuff to the Etsy site this weekend...the last full weekend in August.  Where did the summer go?

Mini...My Muse...OOTD

...If you follow the blog, you already know I'm not the best make-up artist...but...I'm working on it...and for now, Mini is my muse.

...but just look at my photography skills.  Getting better...almost ready to go after an actual paid gig...If you need a photographer...call me.

It was an "Amazing" weekend...

Sigh.  THANK YOU.

Mini and I held our first, "Sickle Cell BackPack to School" fundraiser this weekend...and boy, did you guys come through.

You never know if something is going to work...it was just a dream that Mini and I have had for years now...and this past Sunday it happened...and it happened because of you...to everyone who came through...to everyone who couldn't make it, but still found a way to donate...THANK YOU.  You are a blessing to so many kids who are living with this devastating disease...and you have made it possible for Mini and I to give back to our community...for that we will be forever grateful.
We served up chicken and waffles...fresh fruit salad...and a spiked punch.

 "Class Photo"...smile.
I was so surprised to see this lady come through?  You may know her as, Armanda from the Thriftionary Blog.  She just moved to NYC from the ATL a couple weeks ago...and somehow made her way to my home...which is no easy feat...most NYC can't do that...We have followed each others blogs for years.  It was so cool meeting her in person.  Felt like we knew each other for years...She is so cool...Check out her blog to read all about how she navigates NYC and her thrifting adventures...

I asked everyone to write a little message to the kids and Mini and I will attach one to each bag.  Just to let the kids know that these bags were donated by real people who really care and want the best for them...

We feel the love...and now a few kids will too.
