How I'd like to live today...

...just look at this celimg...sigh.  That coffee table is perfection...I think I could possibly pull off this coffee table in my living...thrift store search is on.

...a wonderful galley kitchen...I had a kitchen just like this...but it wasn't this stylish...and so easy to do...remove all top cabinets and replace them (who needs cabinets) with framed black and white prints...no color needed.  Keep it simple.

I really need to start painting again...this is my inspiration.

...remember the table I thrifted last week (below) I'm thinking about staining it like this...I'm also thinking about covering my wall with baskets like so...and chaning out my plastic light fixture with a wicker one...hum, for fall.

Oh yes...I love this...I need to finish the maxi dress I started so long ago...

Good Morning - The New - New

I have been working so hard to get a couple of new items photographed and listed to my ETSY shop.  This is not an easy gig...First I have to source the items...rummaging through thrift stores, etc...I have to style the items...take the photos...many, many shots...just to get the one shot that shows the item in it's best light...upload all the photos to my mac...then I have to write the descriptions for each and every item...Oh yeah, I can't forget all the research I do to make sure I'm representing the item honestly...Then I go through all the steps necessary to add them to my Etsy site...then it goes live...and I wait, and wait for someone to push that sold button...like someone in Australia did this morning...Thank YOU!

It's not work to me...I love it...from searching through thrift stores for the perfect, special piece to sharing them all with you guys...I'm passionate about what I do and I hope it shows.  I hope to one day travel the world bringing back all kinds of trinkets and treasures to share with everyone.

Don't forget to visit my shop

Thanks to D for the wonderful camera...I couldn't do this without it...XOXO

My latest thrifted find...

My latest thrifted find...A solid wood kitchen set...this thing is heavy...not IKEA...(not bashing IKEA...we all know that's my happy place...p.s. their 2014 catalog came online yesterday...yeah!  Google it...pure inspiration)....back to my find...did I mention that its solid...heavy...must have come out of a school or industrial setting...then again, it shows very little wear and tear...besides the table top...which I quickly sanded...and will poly later today...and just look at those chairs...you know I'm going to go crazy recovering those seats...probably changing them with the seasons...lol.

It's pretty small...barley holds two dinner plates...which the salesman at the Army made sure to point out to me..."thanks for pointing that out Sir...UGH!"  To which I quickly responded..."yep, it's perfect for all my intimate candle light dinners just for two."  Yeah...he went back to work after that comment.  Sigh.

Anywho...How much did it cost...?  Don't ask, you won't believe me anyway...lets just say, they paid me to take it away...So, I couldn't help but help them out.  FYI...I think my Army is under new management...prices have been slashed...at one point the prices were crazy...Ethan Allen crazy.

Enjoy your weekend!  Thanks for reading.

See. Just a few scratches...I easily sanded those out...I may put wheels on it...and use it all around the kitchen as an extra workstation...but, then again...adding wheels may raise the table too high.  We'll see.

Thursdays thought...I wanna know what love is...

Rog & Bee Walker two photographers with a great blog and a great life.

and please don't tell me it doesn't exist...you can say you don't believe in it...but, this video is proof it exists...and as for me, I won't settle for less...I'm worth it.

I've just been inspired to paint a couple of leather bags that have been hanging around collecting dust...

Happy Birthday Mini

Happy Birthday to my little miracle...17 years...wishing you all the happiness your world can hold!
Mini is 17 years old today...to avoid getting overly emotional that's all I'm going to say...sigh.  Love you more...

Another easy DIY

I can't take credit for this one...wish I could...it's so clever and so easy...a stock table and an IKEA clock...some paint, glue and viola.  I think this would look great in Mini's room.  Which will soon get its first makeover in 3 years...I know, can you believe it's been that long?  Me neither...Mini turns 17 in two days...so it's time.  She has just two more years b4 going away to college...sad face...

So, I'm going to give her a real young lady room makeover with things that can go to college with her and I think this table would be perfect.

I can't remember where I found this DIY and I would love to link back to the site...so, if you recognize it please let me know.

This is why I thrift

I recently thrifted this beautiful, red, tribal print, VALENTINO scarf from my local Salvation Army Thrift Store...for just $3.00
this is why I thrift...could I, would I ever walk into the Valentino store on 5th Ave. in NYC and pluck down my hard to come by dough on a Valentino scarf...?  Ummm, probably not...

but somehow the universe knows that I really would love to own one...and now I do...and I love it.

...this thing is huge and practically new...not sure what season it's from...or how vintage it really is...don't really care...

It's so me...I just want to thank whoever took the time to drop it off instead of just throwing it out...

I couldn't stop taking pics of it...it really inspired me...it was screaming..."take my pic, take my pic..."

and look...now I can do that cute turban thing when my hairs a mess...lol.

Check out this video to learn how to tie a turban...

Have a great weekend...and thanks for stopping by...

p.s.  I finished the drop crotch jeans DIY...I'll try to get someone to take a couple of pics of me wearing them this weekend...post next week.

Just another day at the beach...

...thought I'd share a couple of pics of mini and I on Long Beach this past 4th of July...
NYC is in the middle of a heat wave today...it's 100 degrees right now...but, it was a little chilly on the beach that day...

...that's why we are wearing a bit more clothes than the usual beach attire...

all in all, Long Beach is coming back after being devastated by hurricane sandy...the board walk is missing...only thing left are concrete pillars...new boards are going up as I type...

...it didn't stop us from enjoying and worshiping the sun...

Mini looks good in this photo...but, she is just getting over a cold...she had a 103 temperature this weekend...she thinks she got it from kids she's working with at the daycare...sigh.  Immune system still not 100% post transplant I guess...She is doing better today.

Another easy DIY....fringe crop top

If you follow my Instagram you saw this last week...I diy'd this t-shirt into a fringed crop top...on a DIY scale of 1-10...this is a 4...pretty simple

...get your self a large loose fittings-shirt

...cut the sleeves off at the seam
...cut the neck band off too.
...I wanted my shirt to comfortably fall off one shoulder...so I cut one side a little lower than the other side.

....next, cut the bottom front a little higher than the back....for a more flattering fit.

...next, cut fringes in your desired width...you can make them as long or short as you like.

...cut all the way across the shirt...cutting the front and back at the same time.  This takes some time and patience...put on your favorite song...it makes it go quicker.

...when you are done cutting....pull the fringes one by one...that will stretch and curl them...

And ta-da...well, not exactly, I did a little more than that as you guys can see...I dipped the edged in bleach and added a couple of studs to the shoulder...Pretty simple DIY...rock it to the beach as a cover up...try it.

Man Day Monday - His Home

Todays submission for Man-Day-Monday...includes his home...sigh.

I'm just saying, "a girl could get comfortable here."
