I love painting furniture

...found in the opps paint aisle of Home Depot...$2.00
...how could I not get it?  Especially after yesterday's painted furniture post as inspiration.

...and this sad little table waiting at home.

...just begging for a $2.00 make-over.

I love painting furniture.  It therapeutic...and cheaper than therapy...and it keeps me from going postal on so many people.

...like Buddha and incense.

Beautiful Before and After...

...So, the next time I see a weathered, beaten down, $25.00 table at the thrift store...it's coming home with me...take a look at what a little elbow grease and vision can do...Go here to see how she made the magic happen...step by step.

Text BREAK to 52000
and $10 will be donated to the Sickle Cell Disease Association

Another day...

...Mini and I were back at the hospital yesterday...for an MRI and check up...

...as most of you know, Mini had a bone marrow transplant from an unrelated donor curing her of Sickle Cell Disease in January 2011.
...what you may not know, bone marrow transplants are very complicated and dangerous procedures...the most dangerous period is after receiving the bone marrow.  Mini had two rounds of chemo which totally knocked out her immune system.  Leaving her open to all types of infections and illness that our bodies usually fight off...
...even her immunizations were knocked out...so, yesterday she got her second round of immunizations...just as a new born baby would...We began the paperwork needed to finally meet her donor.  Hopefully this will happen before the end of the year.

Mini also had an MRI of her brain...I remember her first MRI...she was so little they had to put her to sleep just to keep her still...yesterday she went into the tube 30 minutes, all alone...All I could think was how far she has come...with the grace of GOD!  ...and he is not done yet...GOD is still showing off when it comes to Mini...smile.

As for me, being in the hospital all day yesterday really bought on a lot of anxiety.  How did I do this every 3 weeks for the past 8 years?  Exhale.

So hungry...

I'm sitting at the hospital waiting for Mini to get her brain MRI and I'm sooo hungry....it doesn't help that I keep running across images of delicious food on my iPad...ugh!

Reality Living...Decorating in three's

...sometimes I feel like I show rooms that are not attainable for the average family...sort of how runway fashion is not the reality of what we really wear...It's a fantasy and inspiration.
I ran across this image and thought, "oh, this is the perfect example of a livable living room...attainable for most people"  Looks like nothing here is thrifted...everything is attainable at most of your big box stores...totally doable for the average family...and I just love it.

The furniture is neutral...accents are the stars here and are easily interchangeable with the seasons or your mood...
...everything is fresh and on trend...the accent color is used at least 3 times...yellow rug, yellow dining chairs, yellow flowers...also, black is also used more than 3 times, grounding the space.  Check out how the color blue was used...on the pillows, the flower vase and they even snuck it in on the dining room chair legs...again in 3's...
I think this space really works because the home owner is not afraid to mix up colors and patterns.  That's really the hardest thing for most people to do...If you look around your space I bet you'll see your pillows match your rug...your rug matche your curtains, etc...decorating this way makes your space look flat and boring...next time, remember this room and try mixing things up...I think you'll like it.

Are you having a bar-b-q?

...I'd love to come.

How beautiful is this backyard?  Wouldn't you just love to sit here all day with good friends and good food?

If you're tired, don't read this post

Traditional...perfect

ABC Carpet & Home
I took this photo on my last visit...I feel in love with all the velvet bedding...cost?  Thousands, and thousands of dollars...But, oh so beautiful.

Simple, bohemian style...almost bohemian glam...

BEFORE

...this is a great DIY.  The mom found the cabinets while thrifting...a paint coat or two... and a little moulding later...perfect bookshelves for her girls bedroom...Find that at Pottery Barn Kids?  ...I don't think so.

Traditional with a bohemian bent...

VIA

This room is so me...sigh.  I know it's not for everyone...lol.  Not for most...I love everything about it...maybe not the dark blue walls...but, even those I could live with...You know what I really like about this room?  I own almost everything needed to recreate it.  Smile.

Contemporary/Casual...check out the umbra painted shelves...clever.

Coastal...
I'm really digging the color of the walls...If I can find this color in the OOP's paint section of Home Depot I'd paint my bedroom....again.

Traditional/Boho
This room has very traditional furniture covered in bohemian fabrics...I like it.

Oh, I don't know what to call this room...just cute.  How easy is it to use a clorox pen on a colored duvet and write what ever you want on it.
How about, "Happily Every After"...over and over and over...love that.

Lollipop, lollipop, lifesaver lollipop...

What young woman wouldn't love this room...cool.

I'm in love with the wood headboard.
