This Weeks Blogs of Interest

I’ve been a builder, designer and tinkerer for some time now, and I figure it’s about time I start a record of some of my projects. This way, I can share some ideas, maybe get some ideas from you, and we can discuss building things and projects and stuff we all (hopefully you) like.

Interior Design, Fashion, How To Videos and Life

“This is a project about people. It is a project about our space and the things we keep and the things we don’t throw away.

I just wanted to leave you guys with a couple of new blogs to check out over the weekend...Enjoy.

$47.00 and a thrifting haul dream

...take a look at my latest thrifting haul.  I spent a grand total of $47 bucks for the entire lot...yeah!
My local Savers Thrift store is having a 50% off all winter clothing...had to go.

This is my attempt at taking one of those cool fashion blogger photos I love so much...not too bad.
cotton button down shirt $4.99 + 30% off

Button down gingham shirt $5.99 + 30% off

Cotton Raime Oversized Cowl Neck Sweater - New - $3.99 + 50% off
Love...because it's cotton...I can see myself rocking it during a cool spring evening with the white jeans below...

 Delia, White Jeans - New $7.99 + 30% off
Love these...they fit perfectly...

Crate and Barrel Iron Candle Holder - the sales lady let me have it for $5.00 - Yes.
Can't wait to use it in my bedroom...I'll stack it with candles and place it in my fireplace mantel...so romantic.

Leather Raffia wrapped wedge sandal - $6.99 + 30% off
...Looks just like every other summer sandal I own...but how could I resist?  They are brand new...

Drumroll please...
Frye Moccasin - All leather - $9.99 + 50% off
I spent about 2 hours in the thrift store...was heading to the checkout...an aisle was blocked by a baby carriage...so I went around and what did I spy????  These beauties.  My heart started beating fast as I thought to myself, "how much are you will to pay?  They are probably too expensive...this is a thrift store known for asking $35.00 for a pair of used Nikes"...I was ready to blow the budget and put back everything I had already accumulated in my cart...didn't have to...they were practically free!  I love when that happens.

I thought Mini would be excited when she saw them...I mean, she has been talking about getting a pair of moccasins for the last week.  I couldn't wait to show them to her...You already know what my preppy, 15 year old daughter said when she saw them, "Uh...no!"  LOL!  I'm glad we wear the same size...and I was secretly hoping she didn't like them so I could have them all to myself...smile.

 Lovely beaded house shoes - $2.99 + 30% off

Not thrifted...I found this during my closet clean out...love when that happens.

 Beautiful Metal Japanese Tray - $1.99 + 30% off
...Now, do I need another tray?  No.  I just donated two...but, this one was too pretty to pass up...the shape and colors are so unusual.  Can't wait to sit it on my terrace table.

 Heavy Portable Table - $10.00

Three donation boxes waiting for pick-up...I still have one more closet to go through before I donate these things...I told you before...now is the best time to thrift...everyone is getting rid of stuff...and one man's trash could be your treasure...

I needed this table...I'll soon be taking my things to the street...a sale table at the flea market that is...I come across so many cool things while thrifting, I could really make some money if I just stop procrastinating and get a space at the flea market...that is next weeks assignment...

The rest are random images of my finds in their new home...

Another Easy DIY

you are in for a treat via this blog...lots and lots of beautiful DIY's

Thursday's Thought

I'll go first...health, happiness, love, money, fame.

What's blogging my view...

...my view...the city recently completed the park makeover...took one year of noise and dirt...look at it now...it was all worth it...they planted new trees...put in new tennis courts...new swing sets, etc. I can't wait until it's warm enough for the fountain.

Video Tuesday...So nice, I had to do it twice...

Ms. Emily Henderson from HGTV's Design Star, really knocked this one out of the park...It is exactly what I'm going for in my space...fast forward to the end to see the reveal.  The round coffee tables are "to Live for" sigh...

p.s. Emily has a great blog too...check it out.

It's Video Tuesday, Look at what you get for $650,000.00 dollars in NYC...Yikes.

New York real estate is off the chain...still.  This apartment is just average.  Nothing special, except for the price.  This video aired on HGTV's, Selling New York...they asked interior designer, Robin Wilson to stage the terrace (sidebar, my next project) for a quick sale of the apartment.  I think they dropped the ball and missed a huge opportunity to do something special.  It looked a little boring to me...but, they sold the apartment in the end, so she did her job.  I'd love to know what you think.

I surrender to my stuff

...my original spring cleaning design plan was to purge, purge, purge.  Let's face it, I have too much stuff and I love thrifting.  So, in design reality, how is that ever going to happen?
I dreamed of pairing down and living in a space like this...a couple of cushion...a few pics.

...or this, stark...all white walls and floor...very little on the walls.

Ohhh, yeah.  Seriously, like this...accessories?  What accessories?

...But, I am a realist when it comes to design.  I tell my clients all the time to, "get real"...and the above images are nice, but that's not how I live...I have stuff...and I love being able to look at my stuff...It reminds we of where I've been...things I've done...there are lots of memories in my stuff...and I like having that around me...

...stuff can be beautiful.  Just look at how beautiful stuff can be.

I surrender to my stuff.

Hard work pays off...

Mini and I spent our Saturday in Soho. The kids at school talk about it like it's some magical teenage planet. Because of this, Mini was convinced she had never been there. Lol...we practically spent everyday there until she started 2nd grade. But, of course it wasn't a magical teenage fairy land then...just someplace her mom liked to go. Well, all I have to say is, our trip jogged her memory and she can now cross it off her teenage hangout list. At least if it means hanging with mom. If her girls want to hang she'll be there. As for me, yuck...too many people...mostly young...too little inspiration. I took a few photos of inspirational spots...will share later...until then, check this out.

I spent most of my Sunday tweaking the living room. I may change a couple of things...like the cushions on the couch. I was trying to pair do my decorative items but it's not really working...so, it looks like I need to embrace it...

Opinion needed

Do you like the picture or mirror behind the couch?

Things I'd much rather be thinking about this weekend.

RANDOM THOUGHTS THAT ARE CONSTANTLY RUNNING THRU MY MIND...FOCUS.  FOCUS.  FOCUS.

I'm not talking anymore about the wonderful project I'm working on...wink!  UGH!  I'd much rather think about these things...Have a great weekend!
...note to self, I need to pick up a fake pony tail this weekend...I'm not finding much time to fuss with my natural hair lately...especially when I want to just get up and go.

...I imagine being here.

...this is how I look in my dreams...smile.

Oh, to look so put together without much effort.

...I'll need a little sugar rush to help me get across the finish line...with no time to bake, I'll head over to this cute little bakery and pick up my sugar fix this weekend.

...I have been holding on to this image hoping to make similar shorts...no need.  I found a very similar pair...thrifted.

...Mini's turning 16 this summer and a sweet 16 party is being planned...

...I'd really like to sit and sew tops like this all day...sigh.

...my terrace is a wreck.  I recently put some plants out there just to get them out of the way...I'm looking at them as I blog...sigh...soon it will be my favorite room in the house...I would love to see nothing but green like this out there...anyone know how to grow vines on a ceiling?
