Don't peek behind the curtain...It's scary...but, there is a window back there and I'm dreaming of putting the shelving pictured below there...that would be so nice. Remember my $20 Ikea headboard? Well, it's about to meet my paint brush...what color? White of course...and the basket about the bed will get a little splash of paint too...

...remember the other day when I went to the Army and picked up that little purse? Well, this is what the BFF picked up for her new home. Gorg! She hopped on it right away...and the price...wait for it....less than $60.00 bucks...YEP! Solid, solid, solid piece of history...and you can tell it was lovingly taken care of...not a stain, scratch or notch on it...I immediately thought of all the storage this piece can hold...It's like an entire kitchen in one piece...The pictures below are just a little inspiration of what I was thinking could happen to this piece when I saw it...Not sure if the BFF is going to go for painting it...I'm not even sure about painting it...I think we can make it more contemporary without paint...stay tuned...
I love the idea of painting it white...using wallpaper in the background and choosing new pulls like those pictured here...luv.
Hum...I love the straight handles on this piece too...
I like the idea of hanging small framed art on the back wall...
...this is a sneak peak at Mini's bed makeover...I attached picture hooks to the back of the headboard and hung it on the wall like a picture...that way you get the full effect...none of the headboard is hidden behind pillows...stay tuned.
You know when people ask, "what's a perfect day for you?" I always have to think about it...Well, yesterday was pretty close to perfect...I got up early went to Starbucks..sat down and drank my coffee and collected my thoughts...headed over to HomeGoods where I scored these goodies...YEAH! Just wait and see what I do with them...then I headed over to my favorite supermarket, Trader Joe's...took my time chatted up my favorite cashier and headed home and made lunch for Mini...turkey burger...Perfect. So, what's a perfect day like for you?
I must remind myself of this everyday...when I desire so much and begin worrying about how I'm going to get it or make it happen...I have to stop and remember that everything I have now was once something I had only hoped for...I need to be more thankful and enjoy what I have.
One of my favorite songs by one of my favorite singers...he says it best... Cherish this Moment.

Harvard Announces No Tuition and No Student Loans
Harvard University announced over the weekend that from now on undergraduate students from low-income families will pay no tuition. In making the announcement, Harvard’s president Lawrence H. Summers said, “When only ten percent of the students in elite higher education come from families in the lower half of the income distribution, we are not doing enough. We are not doing enough in bringing elite higher education to the lower half of the income distribution.”

I went to the Army yesterday with a bff who just purchased her first house...She found an amazing hutch...for just $40.00 smackers and I found this amazing Franco Sarto leather Hobo Handbag for just $7.00...So random, that's why I heart going there...you never know what you are going to find...FYI New Yorkers...the Salvation Army is having a 50% off all furniture sale...Not sure if it's nationwide...Yep, you can thank me later.
Oh yeah, that's a sneak peak at Mini's bed...painted black and looking so much funkier...smile...

You gotta love the internet...this weekend I was browsing...keyword "mongolian pillow" and low and behold google sent me to www.bedbathandbeyond.com where the pictured mongolian pillows are on sale for....wait for it....................$9.99...Yep! I was about to order them when I saw a little button that said, "see if it's available in your store"...I clicked and yep, they were available in my store...which happens to be about 8 minutes from my apartment...so I hoped in the car and made my way to the store...only to find out that the pillows were $29.99 in the store...their original price...UGH! I kindly took three pillows to the customer service desk...explained how I saw them on their website for $9.99 and viola...the pillows were mine...just $9.99 each...happy birthday to me...
I heart the pillows, so much so...I was inspired to take photos of my bedroom...Remember the pieces I purchased from the Salvation Army last summer and painted white...I had no idea what I would do with them...Hum, they found the perfect home...in my bedroom. The flowers are fake...$1.00 each from the dollar store...LUV. It's been a while since I've been to the Army...must try to make it there this week...Oh yeah, I painted Mini's bed black...looks great...stay tuned.

It looked so pretty...
but, this cake was so dry...even my favorite ice cream couldn't save it...I woke up this morning thinking it would be better...but, today it's rock hard...lol...I guess I gotta throw out all those eggs, butter and effort that went into it...Don't worry, I'm not defeated...I will revisit this cake recipe again...
