Soul Pretty
Just Sharing
http://hiptranquilchick.com/webplayer/webplayer.html
I just want to share this wonderful podcast that I listen to every week. It's called the Hip Tranquil Chick. For me, it's a motivational podcast. The host, Kimberly Wilson interviews creative, hip chicks, once a week...they discuss their lives and what motivates them. They also talk about their dreams and how to make things happen....Sometimes it can get deep, but it can also be something as simple as a mom who just wants her kids to pick up after themselves...I hope you check it out. I think you'll like it....
Mommy and Me
My latest Mommy and Me creation... an easy to wear sundress with a matching little sundress for your baby...too cute.
I'll post it for sale on soulpretty.etsy.com ...

Beautiful...
Tia Mowry (of Sister, Sister fame...one of Mini-me's favorite t.v. shows) married actor Cory Hardict, Sunday, April 20, 2008 in Santa Barbara, California.
Do It Yourself...
This idea wins the award for, most functional, best looking, yet simple, do it yourself shelving that I've seen in a while...two eqaul size plywood boards for top and bottom, and two equal size plywood boards for the sides...glue or screw together...stain or paint...Mount on the wall with brackets...and Wala, you now have an office.
Why Didn't I Think of That?
How clever. PVC plumbing tubes covered in fabric and stacked...make unusual shelving for a modern space....Imagine doing an enitre wall in a baby or kids room...Nice.

Nike + iPod Sport Kit
Walked 2 miles yesterday and burned 238 calories...Yeah!
I purchased this gadget last summer and I love it...it talks to you, motivates you, changes your music, tells you how far you've run or walked and home many calories you burned...bring it home and attach it to the ipod dock and it downloads your stats so you can keep track or compare your work out with other Nike +iPod owners all over the world...It's hot...too bad the sneakers are not...definately not sexy...
Nike + iPod Sport Kit - $29.00 http://store.apple.com/1-800-MY-APPLE/WebObjects/AppleStore.woa/wa/RSLID?mco=MjI5Nzc&fnode=home&nplm=MA365LL/B
Transform your iPod nano into a personal workout coach with the Nike + iPod Sport Kit. This wireless sensor and receiver combination works exclusively with your Nike+ shoes and iPod nano to give you real-time feedback during workouts and let you track your performance on your Mac or PC.

TuneInsert the wireless sensor inside the custom, built-in pocket beneath the insole of your Nike+ shoe, then plug the receiver into the Dock connector on your iPod nano.
Now start your workout. As your run or walk, the sensor sends information to your iPod nano, tracking your time, distance, pace, and calories burned. If you choose, real-time, spoken feedback can even alert you to milestones throughout your workout.
Back at your computer, sync your iPod nano to transfer your workout data to iTunes and nikeplus.com. There, you can evaluate your performance history, set goals, and even challenge other runners to a virtual race.
You can purchase it anywhere...Modells, Dicks, Target, etc....easy to find...

Today's Musical Selection, Whitney Houston, Your Love is My Love
Today's song is dedicated to my daughter...I Can't wait to play this song for her when she gets home from school today. I wonder if she still remembers it. We would sing and dance to this song over and over when she was little...She loved hearing Whitney's daughter say, "sing mommy" in the begining of the song. Listen to the lyrics, so beautiful...I'll try to remember her daughters words when I'm feeling blue..."SING MOMMY"...Enjoy.
In a Perfect World
In a perfect world, I would sit in this chair, drinking tea while catching up on the phone with friends. Hum...

Spring House
How cute is this house? It has so much character and it didn't take a huge remodel to make it look good. No new windows or expensive landscaping...I heart it...Well done.
Food
This is where I ended up for warmth after the flea market. The cake was good and so was the coffee. The shop has a few seats and is very crowded...they also make sandwiches and juice.

Brooklyn Flea Market
Last weekend a new flea market opened in NYC; Actually, it's in Fort Green, Brooklyn. I had to check it out to see if it's the right place to get a space to sell my line of products or just make contacts with other designers or store owners who may be interested in carrying my line...The flea market is cool and free to enter, that's always a plus...below are photos of some of the items I found interesting...I didn't hang around too long...it was so cold I ended up in a little coffee shop drinking coffee and eating cake...Better luck next week...Al Roker promises spring like temperatures in the 70's this weekend...and I'll be baby free...we'll she's not exactly a baby but you mom's know what I mean....Go to for more info http://www.news-antique.com/?id=783984&keys=Brooklyn-Flea-Market-Weekly
Location: Bishop Loughlin Memorial High School, Lafayette Ave. btw. Clermont & Vanderbilt Ave., Fort Greene, Brooklyn: 176 Lafayette Ave.

A vender selling her folk art paintings...love it.
These are great for a kids room...I think they were $16.00 bucks each and two for $30.00...not bad...
My favorite find of the day...a reupholstered chair with matching pillows...the price was pretty steep...$500.00 bucks...
This was the only vendor making money...the food line...I hope it gets better for the vendors when the weather warms up.

IKEA is coming to Brooklyn...
IKEA fans rejoice...here are pictures of the new Ikea store being built on the water in Redhook, Brooklyn...They say when the it's done they will have ferry service every 40 minutes to and from Manhattan, FREE...Cool. If you haven't been to RedHook you need to check it out. They are doing big things...The Fairway Supermarket http://www.fairwaymarket.com/index.cfm?area=user-defined1 is off the hook. It's on the water with outdoor benches on the pier with wonderful views of the Statue of Liberty...they also operate a ferry to and from Manhattan every 30 minutes...it's a really cool place where you can enjoy lunch with your date or your kid and ride the ferry into Manhattan when your done...What's better than that on a nice spring day in New York City...Sometimes I really enjoy living here...Check it out and Enjoy.

Home Goods
I heart Home Goods. I was browsing the aisle and came across this red wooden chest...just $29.99! I immediately thought it would look great with legs as a night stand or hung directly on the wall as a shelf...
Rooms that attract me
I have always been attracted to rooms that balance rough texture with a softness. I think this room is a good example of that...Yin and Yang...

Here's a tip for cleaning the windows this spring...use windshield wiper fluid...pour it into a spray bottle, spray it on your windows for an easy beautiful shine...If it's good enough to remove bird poop from your windshield...just imagine what it will do to your window.![]()

I promise...this music will get your head right...try it.
As a kid growing up in NYC, this is the music of my youth...saturday's spent at the roller skating rink...wearing suede pumps, my one and only pair of Jordache jeans and my sheepskin coat that I worked all summer to get...We would skate all night, and walk home (in pumps, with blistered feet) at 3:30 in the morning through one of the toughest neighborhoods in NYC...When I think about it now, that's not what me and my friends experienced it or lived it...although it was and still is hell for some, but for us...it was great...We just kept skating and stayed out of trouble.
The last song on the podcast was my JAM! All Night Thang' by the Invisible Mans Band...when that song came on...I was in another world and don't try to bring me back to yours...I don't wanna go...I wanna stay right here...lol.

Mini-Me's New Outfit
My daughter was so happy today...she went back to school with her brand new "Pastry" sneakers, new jeans and new hoodie...We watch Run's House all the time. The daughters on the show started designing and selling sneakers (I love it!). I promised her a pair of their sneakers for Easter. Now, normally I would not spend $65.00 dollars on a pair of shoes that will look like trash in a weeks time but, I think by buying her these shoes (only once), she will learn that if you can dream it, you can conceive it...the girls on the show did it...so, why can't she...? I hope that's the lesson anyway...Seeing her so happy about her outfit brought back so many memories of when I was a girl and wanting a popular outfit so bad...and finally getting it...(which didn't happen often...hello, I became a designer because of never getting the outfit that everyone else was wearing, when they were wearing it) giving my daughter the outfit she really wanted, when she wanted it was as they say, "priceless".

Apartment Update
This is what I have been doing among other things, like the emergency room until 4:00 in the morning with my daughter...she's fine now...
My daughter went to a slipover during the Easter vacation and you would think being a single mom that I would jump at the chance to go on a date or hang out..."I live in NYC and I'm 30 minutes away from being in an episode of "Sex in the City" at all times"...but, NOOOO! I was at home working on spring cleaning the apartment and re-arranging things...It turned out great...pictures coming soon...Hopefully, I'll catch up on all the fun I missed this weekend...
