OMG...I forgot all about Les Brown...I used to listen to him everyday on my way to work and college after work on that long train ride home at 11:00 p.m...on my walkman...lol...remember those...? Finding this on Youtube made my day... He really encouraged me to keep going...when no one else was encouraging me...Please watch and be inspired...and watch again and again if you have to...make your kids watch it...you may think their not listening but they are.
...you don't always have a closet in your bedroom...but, if you have a blank wall and a little imagination you can create your dream closet. First, purchase a closet system...(Home Depot, Lowes, Target...I bought Mini's from Walmart and we love it) the system below is hanging above traditional dressers ..load your clothes inside and hang a curtain in front of it from a tension rod and viola! Big closet and big style.
Hello everyone...hope you all had a fabulous weekend...I know I did! Sade did not disappoint...she was amazing...everything I imagined her to be...I'm still marinating in the experience of seeing one of my idols perform live...It doesn't get better than that...Thanks again K for thinking of me when you got the tickets...luv you.
The rest of the post is just random...
I picked up this basket while thrifting...$1.50...now I don't need another basket but it just reminded me of some of the things I see in Pottery Barn and Crate and Barrel...so I bought it....got it home and didn't like the color...so I painted it with a high gloss black and now I really love it...It's a perfect tray for taking food into my bedroom...and yes, I do eat in my bedroom every now and then...I also use it to carry food to the terrace...Luv.
My bedroom and new dinner tray...
I love this family photo...It's the best I've seen in a while.
...luving this top. She reminds me of Mini.
...random black bathroom I'm loving.
...Yes...I'll take it. The most beautiful door I've seen all month. I live in an apartment building...so no front door for me...but, this door has my creative juices flowing...It's got me thinking about doing something wild to the inside of my apartment door...Hum, I better not see any ethnic moulding in my travels or it's on...Smile.
...I'm off to see one of my all time favorite artist "Sade" in concert with Mr. John Legend...I will try to behave myself...but it's going to be hard when your in the FRONT ROW! Holla...THANKS K!
Enjoy your weekend and be safe.
...I'm not normally excited about thrifting clothing at the Army...I really have to be in the mood to look through racks and racks of clothing for that one perfect piece that will look good on me...normally doesn't happen. But, now that Mini is at the age where she can appreciate a cool find, I'm kinda getting into it again...I just wanted to share with you guys what I found for Mini on my last Army visit.
...and remember, Wednesday is Family Day at the Salvation Army...all clothing is 50% off.
I picked up all this for just $20.38...YEAHA!
I'm still thinking about painting or stenciling my bedroom wall...these are my inspiration...
this wall color is similar to mine...and I like the idea of white circles...
I love trees...I like how they don't cover the wall completely...
...color palette...perfect.
...this could be a cool pattern.
....In a perfect world, it would look just like this.
....love the ethnic patterns.
...cowrie shell pattern...hum?
...this is the color palette of my bedroom...
...maybe I'll do a tone on tone job like this one...in my case it would be blue on blue...subtle.
I'm really leaning towards painting a giant tree smack dab in the middle of the room...just like this. Off topic...I love this color blue for my bathroom...hum? Ugh!
...we want to paint our bathroom in some shocking color...It's a tiny bathroom...the only bathroom...and the paint in the rest of the house is so tame...we really want to go with something bold in the bathroom.
...Right now the bathroom has simple grey and black tile with white walls...
...it was black just like this a couple years ago...so that's out....and we all know how I feel about red...yuck.
...this peachy-orange color is speaking to me...hum?
...Mini loves purple...hum? ...and she also wants to make this pillow...random.
What do you guys think...you've seen my apartment...any ideas for the bathroom?
...So, remember when I purchased that can of black oopps paint from Lowe's a couple weeks ago? I was going to paint my terrace chair with it...Well, here is another tip for you when buying oopps paint...check the color before you purchase...yep. Open the can and make sure the color on the outside of the can is the color that's in the can...the black paint I thought I had was actually brown...UGH!
Don't worry...I didn't waste it...I put it on one wall in my living room...I wasn't sure if I liked it at first (when it was wet) but look how good it makes my ugly couch look.
...and my Mini matches the wall now...smile.
...and when I saw the sun dance across the wall all afternoon...I knew it was a keeper...alls well that ends well...
Step 1. Visit the dollar store and buy a bag of rocks
Step 2. Paint the rocks
Step 3. Kick rocks
Could be a nice way to spend the afternoon with the kiddies...then challenge the little ones to see who can make the most words...
I love this idea and I could think of all kinds of wonderful ways to use these rocks...
...for those of you who are artistically challenged...keep the graphic simple.
