I forgot to share this...

I stopped by the Salvation Army on my way to the Nate Show last week...and look what I saw

Located on 46th Street and 11th Avenue

 It's huge...two floors...

...one just for clothing and accessories

...and one just for furniture and housewares
I wanted this sofa sooooo bad.  It was just $89.00 bucks...but, then I thought about bedbugs...sigh.  I probably should have bought it.  FYI...they offer delivery service for a small fee...

 ...loved this upholstered headboard

...loved this headboard too.  Can't you just imagine it painted some funky color?

...this place goes on and on.

I wanted these wicker baskets, but it would have been hard to carry them with me to the Nate Show.

...this desk is so perfect for Mini's room...It was metal...and could be spray painted.

 ...another serving cart...no wheels though.

...chairs for days...and you know I'm still looking for dining chairs...but I didn't find any.

...Loved this shelving unit.  I really need a pick up truck...for real.

So, if you are ever in the NYC...do not miss an opportunity to stop by this place...you won't be disappointed.  Not sure how you would get the stuff home...but it's worth the trip.

  3. wow...what a huge place?

The bedbugs a downer...you know someone could get rich hauling things and cleaning it up before delivery?

One of the smaller thrift shops here called UHURU deliver stuff to your home and they are doing big business...link: http://uhurufurniture.blogspot.com/I wonder if UHURU mails stuff(???)

I loved the desks and tables.

Those chairs are sure to pop up soon...

  4. Do you check craigslist in your area: http://newyork.craigslist.org/search/fua/que?query=queens&srchType=A&minAsk=&maxAsk=
You've got to look through but sometimes you can find interesting things and some unassembled and ready to go.

  6. That Salvation Army is a treasure chest find! What great things they have. The bedbug thing is always on my mind as well. I have seen some really great upholstered things in our second hand store and have had to pass them up. So sad. I am sure you will have a good time visiting this new space.

  8. I read somewhere that it's never entirely a good idea to buy secondhand upholstered things unless you're able to reupholster them and can therefore fumigate from the inside out, but so, so tempting! I LOVE that wooden swirly headboard! C and I will have to put this on the list for October!

  10. Funny you found this:

A couple of weeks ago, my friend and I were watching the Nate Show (we have had tickets twice and both times had to cancel), and we saw Mr. Goodwill Hunting on a segment regarding the Salvation Army. My friend goes "I wonder where this Salvation Army is located"...

I went right to Google and pulled up every Salvation Army until I found the one that matched the entrance of the one that Mr. Goodwill Hunting came out of...

It's the one you just spoke of!

I can't wait to go in and find some treasures!

  13. A rather significant blunder here, I am afraid: It may amaze you but astonishingly enough, wise men have recently discovered that furniture and housewares is an albatross. Hope springs eternal.More Info
