I put together this video to inspire everyone to go out and vote. Mini and I are going over to our local Obama headquaters this weekend to man the phones and make some calls to undecided...I'm sure after talking with Mini, they'll vote Obama...she has oneline, "do you want wars?" enough said.

Mini's Latest Accessory...
...this is Mini's latest fashion accessory...a portable EKG machine...saw the cardiologist today and as a precaution he wanted Mini to wear this machine for 24 hours to record her heart rhythms...Mini is not happy about this but at least she doesn't have to wear it to school...

...Saturday morning went to the flea market with Mini and our cousins...found some cool stuff
...finally, found a dresser for Mini's room, just $25.00 and it fit in my car...gonna paint it and get new knobs...stay tuned.
...the rest of my loot...a funky, vintage leather bag $4.00, a ceramic pig $2.00 and a ceramic tea pot 50 cents...going home with change in my pocket...Priceless...Mini and company hated the bag and ceramic pig...I had to buy them on the down low...

A Breakthrough...

When I was a little girl...

I heard a very interesting interview with Ms. Carroll on NPR last week...She has a new book out about her amazing life titled, THE LEGS ARE THE LAST TO GO...I'll put it on my Christmas list...

Baby Daddy Drama...Ugh!
...I really try not to get this personal on my blog...but, you guys have been so helpful in keeping me focused on what's really important that I gotta let this out...this past weekend Mini spent her court appointed weekend with the baby daddy...Mini doesn't normally talk about her weekends and I'm of the mind that as long as she doesn't have a problem, I don't have a problem and he won't have a problem...Well, Houston, we have a problem....
While eating breakfast before school this morning Mini informed me that she's tired of sharing her dad's weekends with his girlfriend...Hum, where is this coming from? Well, this weekend Mini hung out with daddy and girlfriend and girlfriend showed Mini a bunch of pictures of her with her niece and Mini's dad at the mall...smiling, hanging and having a good time...
(What kind of woman would do this to a little girl...? You know, hey Mini, want to see what me and your dad do when your going to the doctor?" ....she's just a dumb _itch)...
...While Mini spent last week at the doctor getting needles, listening to her doctors throw around words like, biopsy, liver failure, heart failure, bone marrow transplant...etc. and her daddy is at the mall taking pictures...UGH!
I blame him...not the _itch...what does she care? It's not her kid...I have no use for her...as for him...what kind of man would make his daughter compete for his attention when she only gets it every other weekend? I asked Mini if he talked with her about her doctors appointment? No.........(tears). When I spoke with him about it he looked at me with a smirk and said, "don't they have a bone marrow waiting list?"................tears. que, Alicia Keys, Superwoman song...
I can't imagine how Mini feels...and I've asked her to tell her dad how she feels and she just tears up and says no...What can I say?...This breaks my heart...
I told Mini I can't make him into the dad that she deserves....I can only be the mommy she deserves and no matter what happens she must always remember that my world revolves around her until the time when she can revolve on her own and don't ever forget it...and then we sang this song....

Today's Style
I'm heading into the Emerald City today...I have a meeting with Mini's educational attorney...we're working on her j.r. high school placement for next year...fun.
I had a little fun this morning with my favorite distraction, polyvore...I put together a little story board about my day...the outfit...the ipod...starbucks...crocheting on the train and lunch with a friend...It should be 77 degrees in NYC today...smile.

D.I.Y. Project
SCARF HANGER
Easy, easy, easy...cut a strip of fabric to your desired length and width...stitch or glue around the strip in order to present a finished edge...find your favorite twill ribbon, make a loop, pin to strip, and stitch straight across the top to secure in place...this person just stapled it to their door...I would sew loops along the top and hang it from a couple of hooks or nails in the wall...this is definately a project where you could let your imagination run wild...put as many or as little strips as you like...Imagine making one with holiday fabric and velvet ribbon...luv....

...WEEKEND IN REVIEW
...we spent saturday in Harlem...a new gallery opened and the artist Synthia Saint James was there showcasing a couple of her pieces...Synthia is the designer of the first Kwanzaa stamp and a very good friend of a friend...There was a buffet at the opening and Mini thought it was the all you can eat buffet...I turned around and her plate was piled high with food...lol.
...we made pretzels...Mini tried to eat them all...
